MassDOT Highway Issues Updated 2022 Standard Specifications

Posted 2/19/22:

This is an update to MassDOT’s previous announcement regarding the issuance of the 2022 Edition of the Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges.

Due to a publishing error, the original version of this document posted on February 7, 2022, inadvertently omitted some content in Subsection 486 of Division II.  An updated, correct version of the document was posted on February 11, 2022, replacing the original version.  If you downloaded and saved this document to your personal device on or before February 11, 2022, you should delete that version and replace it with the currently-posted version.

This does not affect any active construction contracts.

Thank you for your attention to this information.

– This edition combines the 2021 edition with all supplemental specifications issued by MassDOT during 2021. The 2022 Edition includes an appendix that provides a full accounting of the changes to the previous (2021) edition.

– The 2022 Edition of the Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges will be referenced in the contract documents for all projects advertised beginning this week.  No changes are required for any projects already advertised or under construction.

– For additional info, refer to Engineering Directive E-22-001
