Purpose
The purpose of the Member Engagement and Belonging Committee is to work to ensure that ACEC/MA is a welcoming organization where all members are included, involved, and have the opportunity to pursue key roles in the life of the ACEC/Massachusetts.
Goals
- Promote opportunities for all ACEC/MA members, including those from underrepresented groups, to connect with ACEC/MA and other members to increase involvement on committees and in leadership roles.
- Develop and expand use of materials to better inform all ACEC members about the various paths to leadership in ACEC/MA.
- Support the communication and branding of ACEC’/MA’s membership engagement initiatives, including strategies based on the business case for having an inclusive workplace.
Objectives
- Serve as a resource to the HR Forum, Rising Professionals Committee, Membership Committee, STEM Task Force and other committees that want to engage members to become more active in ACEC/MA.
- Collaborate with the Program Committee to recommend educational programming related to member engagement and belonging.
- Develop partnerships with engineering professional organizations that represent diverse communities.
Structure
Managed by two co-chairs, our Member Engagement and Belonging Committee is organized around particular areas of membership expertise and interest learning about inclusion matters. All committee members are volunteer representatives from ACEC/MA member firms. Additional participants from member firms are always welcome. If your work responsibilities include employee engagement and inclusion matters for your firm, or if you are interested in learning more about the topic, sign up for this Forum. This Forum is open to all employees of ACEC/MA Member Firms, even if you are not located in Massachusetts. Because most of the meetings are also held on Zoom or TEAMS, it is easy to participate.
Meeting Schedule
ACEC/MA’s Member Engagement and Belonging Committee usually meets bimonthly or quarterly by Zoom or, when possible, at the office of an ACEC/MA Member Firm. Aligned with our mission, the goals of these forums are to 1) share and exchange ideas on what your firms have done in response on employee engagement and inclusivity and 2) brainstorm ideas around how ACEC/MA and our profession can help advance initiatives and the conversation across our organization and our member firms.
