Deadline Extended to:  July 8, 2011

State DOTs and A/E firms are relying heavily on nationwide salary surveys to benchmark executive compensation in the wake of the revised AASHTO Audit Guide.

ACEC asks all Member Firms to participate in the Analytical/FMI 2011 A/E Executive Compensation Survey. Your firm’s participation will improve industry compensation data, provide State DOTs with accurate information and give you the tools to benchmark executive compensation and be FAR compliant.

The survey should be completed by your Human Resources Director or Comptroller. Submission deadline is now July 8, 2011.

Background:

ACEC’s engagement in executive compensation surveys was a result of the updated AASHTO Audit Guide and its recommendation for the creation of a National Executive Compensation Matrix.  The recommendation for the creation of a National Compensation Matrix spurred a discussion about the current quality of national compensation surveys and improvements that need to be made.  As a result, last year ACEC worked with several stakeholders to develop a list of salary survey criteria that should be represented in a quality survey.  Enhancing data collection points as well as increasing participation are key to the effort of improving compensation surveys and reaching the point where we have quality data that could be used to create a national matrix.

FMI’s 2011 A/E Executive Compensation Survey has been endorsed by ACEC as it is the result of a collaborative effort with the survey company to improve the survey criteria.  ACEC is now working with the company to promote participation in the survey so the response rate with yield quality data.  The survey was designed with both large and small firms in mind and it does focus on executive positions.

It is ACEC’s goal to endorse a limited number of high quality salary surveys and help those companies increase participation so that as FHWA and AASHTO procure surveys for the creation of a National Matrix, they have quality data to use.  ACEC spearheaded this effort, working in cooperation with AASHTO and FHWA.
