There is no charge to attend, but you must register in advance. The MassDOT Environmental Division is holding a Storm Water - Impaired Waters Training. This is for: Project Development, Design and Environmental Practitioners who design and permit MassDOT projects The purpose of this training is to ensure that no highway project discharging storm water runoff to an impaired water body, is designed without incorporating measures to treat the highway’s contribution to the impairment. This is designed for: Project Development, Design and Environmental Practitioners who design and permit MassDOT projects Beginning in October 2010, all MassDOT projects will need to ensure storm water compliance. This training will provide information on identifying impaired water bodies as well as guidance for determining the most appropriate storm water BMPs. Topics also covered will include DEP's 303(d) list of Impaired Waters and a new Water Quality Data Form to be used during the design process. MassDOT – Environmental Division Personnel will present an overview of NPDES requirements for highway projects. Presenters will include: Henry Barbaro, Supervisor of the Wetlands and Water Resources Unit Mr. Henry Barbaro has been an employee of MassDOT Highway for over 15 years. Prior to his employment at MassDOT he served as a wetland specialist at MassDEP. In his capacity at MassDOT, he serves as the Supervisor of the Wetlands and Water Resources Unit, which is responsible for the procurrment of all necessary State and Federal wetland permits in support of roadway construction and maintenance. Henry is well versed in all aspects of wetland and storm water regulations, permitting and policy. Alex Murray, Storm Water Specialist Mr. Alex Murray is the Storm Water Specialist in the Wetlands Unit. He is the point person for MassDOT’s Storm Water Retrofit Program and is involved in wetland and storm water permitting for MassDOT projects.
