For Immediate Release: June 7, 2011 ACEC/MA Contact: Abbie Goodman, 617-227-5551
BOSTON—David F. Young, PE, Vice President at CDM in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was awarded the 2011 Community Service Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) at the ACEC/MA Annual Celebration and Meeting in Waltham on June 1, 2011.
This award recognizes a principal or manager of an ACEC/MA member firm who has made a significant contribution to the quality of life in his/her community.
Dave has been educating Cape Cod citizens by giving public presentations on the importance of reducing nitrogen sources discharging into crucial public waterways.
He led the Municipal Building Committee in Mansfield, MA for six years and served on the committee for a total of 14 years. During that time he helped guide and implement over $55 million dollars of infrastructure improvements, including expansions and renovations of local public schools, construction of a new police station and a new fire station, and renovation of a historic building and town hall. Dave’s leadership helped Mansfield comprehensively revitalize its public buildings and most vital structures.
Dave was a founding member of the Keep Mansfield Beautiful program, an effort that motivated over 700 volunteers to help remove trash and debris from the streets of the town. This program recently completed its fourth year and nearby communities have adopted this model as well, inspired by the Mansfield program’s grassroots approach.
