Boston Region MPO Seeks Comments on Proposed Amendment to Its Public Participation Program; Will Host a Listening Session on March 3 The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is considering an amendment to its Public Participation Program. The proposed amendment would add text that stipulates how public comment periods might be used in extraordinary and emergency circumstances. Specifically, the amendment would allow for a 15-day public comment period on proposed MPO actions when warranted by extraordinary circumstances, and would allow the MPO to waive a public comment period in an emergency situation. A 45-day public comment period on the proposed amendment ends Thursday, March 25, at 5:00 PM. The MPO is planning to take action on the proposed amendment at its currently scheduled April 1, 2010, meeting, at 10:00 AM, in Conference Room 4 of the State Transportation Building. The MPO also invites the public to attend a listening session on the proposed amendment on Wednesday, March 3, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, in the MPO Conference Room of the State Transportation Building (10 Park Plaza, Suite 2150, Boston). MPO staff will explain the proposed amendment and be available to answer questions on the proposed amendment and other MPO activities. The proposed amendment is posted on the MPO’s website, www.bostonmpo.org, along with the MPO’s antidiscrimination statement and related information.
