Winner in Massachusetts to be nominated for national award and potential recognition in the New Faces of Engineering Program.

The American Council of Engineering Companies/Massachusetts Awards Committee is soliciting candidates for the 2012 ACEC/MA Young Professional of the Year Award.  This award recognizes the accomplishments of our young engineers by highlighting their interesting and unique work, and the resulting impact on society.

Criteria:  

• The nominees shall be engineers 30 years of age or younger as of December 31, 2011.
  
• The nominees shall have a degree in engineering from an ABET accredited U.S. college or university, or from an equivalent international educational institution.
  
• The nominees shall be employees of ACEC/MA member firms.
  
• The nominees shall agree to participate in the National Engineers Week Foundation’s
  New Faces in Engineering program, if selected at the national level. 

The ACEC/MA award recipient will be honored at ACEC/MA's Engineering Excellence Awards Gala on March 28, 2012.

ACEC/MA will forward its local winner to ACEC national. The 2012 recipients will be honored at ACEC’s 2012 Fall Conference in Boca Raton, Florida.

The 2012 ACEC Young Professional of the Year Award will be held in conjunction with the National Engineers Week Foundation’s New Faces of Engineering 2012 competition.  The ACEC Young Professional of the Year is an ACEC program that is separate from the National Engineers Week Foundation’s New Faces of Engineering program.  However, the five winners of the ACEC Young Professional of the Year Award will become ACEC’s nominees to the New Faces of Engineering competition.  Hence, all nominees for the ACEC Young Professional of the Year Award must agree to participate in the New Faces of Engineering program.  More information on National Engineers Week:  www.eweek.org.

The nomination form for the New Faces of Engineering 2012 program will also serve as the nomination form for the 2012 ACEC Young Professional of the Year Award. 

The New Faces of Engineering strives to promote the accomplishments of young engineers by highlighting their engineering contributions and the resulting impact on society. The campaign is designed to enhance and improve the image of engineering by:

• Putting faces to what has often been referred to as “the stealth profession;”
• Showing a group of young, diverse and talented engineers, thereby portraying engineering as an exciting profession open to everyone;
• Providing both stimulation and incentive for college engineering students to explore the variety of career options available to them with their engineering degrees as well as encouraging high school students to study engineering in college.
• Help engineering students understand they are part of a global profession.
