ACEC National Environment & Energy Committee Reactivates its Energy Subcommittee

On September 1, ACEC announced it is reactivating its Energy Subcommittee with Jack Hand as its chair. The Subcommittee’s task is to focus on the key energy issues of interest to ACEC member firms and to recommend positions on legislation and regulation to the full Committee.  He is particularly interested in adding subcommittee members who are knowledgeable about and/or have clients who have interests in one or more of the following areas:

  • Energy infrastructure projects, including coal, gas, and hydro power plants
  • Renewable/alternative energy projects
  • Electric transmission lines, pipelines, and related facilities
  • Financing, permitting, and construction of nuclear power plants
  • Oil and gas development
  • Shale gas hydraulic fracturing Clean Air Act regulations affecting electric power plants
  • Efficient building construction
  • Environmental permitting of energy facilities
  • New energy-related technologies

While not all of these issues are of the same level of priority, several are potentially the subject of upcoming legislation or agency regulation for 2011 and 2012. This national subcommittee plans regular regular conference calls to discuss legislation and regulatory proposals. Notes from the conference calls will be shared with the full Environment & Energy Committee, which will make decisions about ACEC’s strategy.  Contact Diane Shea, dshea@acec.org  on the ACEC staff and tell her if you – or someone else from your firm – would like to serve on the Energy Subcommittee; indicate which energy topics are of most interest to your firm and its clients. Thank you.
